Philosophy of wantlessness is Utopian, while materialism is a chimera.

Wow! What an utopian world, a perfect, tailormade world that would be for me if I had everything I want just by a clap of my hand. Aah! Then I will indeed be satiated and would want no more. Such a perfect world would be referred to as Utopian, perfect. But do we ever experience this feeling of being satiated and satisfied? I refuse to agree.

Perfection, in this imperfect world? Just as man is called a social animal, I feel it will not be wrong to say, man is a wanting animal. Sometimes we want what we need, sometimes what we do not need, but what others have. Often, we want things that have only brand value, just to show off. We all get entangled in this web of wanting and no matter how much we justify to ourselves or others, the truth is we are both the spider and the prey of our self created web.

Wantlessness is is indeed a philosophy, a study and it remains a study and never manifests in life. There are a few in the throng of masses, whom we almost worship and acknowledge as Brahmgyanis , as their wants are minimal. The purpose of life is detachment.

On the other hand, oh sorry, the brahm gyanis are on the other side. On this side are all of us, who feel getting the things we want will give us happiness, the most visible purpose of life. It is this quest to happiness, that we desire worldly comforts. For instance, going barefoot would burn my soles and while suffering is there, while there are tears in the eyes , how can there be a smile on my lips and joy in my heart? The catch is even if you talk of footwear, they could be within your reach or you might want to reach out for something, like Crocs or Sketchers, that are beyond your reach.

Desires are like dreams. They are elusive. They are almost always out of reach. The moment you feel you have caught them, they will slip out of your hand, become larger and brighter than ever before and tease you and beckon you. And you move towards it, as if an invisible string draws you towards it. This is chimera. A dream. Maya.

So we human being at best have a choice to have less wants, as we can never live in a world of wantlessness. That is no place for perfection in this imperfect world. Also unless we have less wants, we will be wasting our breath fuming and fretting and fighting for the frivolous, in this world which the religious masters have said is Maya, a surreal world!
